Fitness-Tracking Apps Use Touch ID to Scam iPhone Users Into Making Unwanted Purchases

The Infinite Brief
Reddit users have exposed a user interface trick used by certain iOS fitness apps to trick iPhone owners into approving unwanted in-app payments with Touch ID.

iOS apps called “Fitness Balance” and “Calories Tracker” have been tricking unsuspecting users into approving payments of over US $100 by disguising the payments as personalized fingerprint scans.

Both “Fitness Balance app” and “Calories Tracker app” have now been removed from the App Store, though there are likely more apps using the same scheme.
